Fracking Waste Messes With Texas: Rachel Maddow Show

Terrence Henry, energy and environment reporter for StateImpact Texas, talks with Rachel Maddow about the sudden rash of earthquakes in Texas, apparently the result of the disposal of waste fluid resulting from natural gas fracking. From the August 7th, 2012 edition of The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC.

Well, I suppose we should be grateful that the water table is too near the surface in PA and NY to have wastewater injection wells? It's a good point that the oil and gas pipes could be affected by the earthquakes. What a price to pay for a few more years of fossil fuels. I'm glad that our family has decided not to lease to the gas companies for wells, compressor stations, or pipelines. With the floodplain and other risks, it would just hasten the demise of our Camp, which has been so loved for many years.

There are some who say the injection wells - not the fracking cause earthquakes; however, we were feeling slight tremors last year when heavy drilling and fracking activity was occurring in North Texas. It's all very bad.
