STOP THE KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE!
|
In 1930, my greatgrandparents purchased a beautiful farm in Bradford County, PA, in a little hamlet called French Azilum. In the summer, we spent time there, resting, breathing in the fresh air, enjoying the wild flowers, the bright stars and planets on a clear moonlit night, and swimming in the Susquehanna River. If gas drilling is allowed to continue, Bradford County and all of Pennsylvania will be forever changed, ruined beyond repair.

Senate Passes a Bill With Strings Attached: Keystone Pipeline
The Senate has passed a bill onto the President which forces him to make a decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline within 60 days. All eyes are now focused on the oval office. Help us get the word out that the crucial decision we've all worked so hard for is now rapidly approaching.

Biologist Sandra Steingraber at Shale Gas Outrage Conference
Ecologist Sandra Steingraber at Shale Gas Outrage Conference (10 min) from Kirsi Jansa on Vimeo.
Dr.Steingraber gives the keynote address in Philadelphia at the Shale Gas Outrage Conference on September 8, 2011. She states that science tells us we could be off fossil fuels in 30 years by switching to solar and wind (not nuclear). Japan and Europe are planning on this. She also describes fracking as a form of substance abuse. She gives us hope as well as food for thought.

Tar Sands Action: Josh Fox
Tar Sands Action/ Josh Fox from JFOX on Vimeo.
Canada's boreal forest is being destroyed day by day by the extreme fossil fuel development of the tar sands. This operation uses obscene amounts of water and natural gas and produces obscene amounts of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gasses. The area, the size of Florida or England, will be destroyed beyond saving- total destruction without hope of reclamation- ever. The Obama administration is now considering building a pipeline, known as the Keystone XL Pipeline, in order to deliver the oil throughout the US, even as far as the Gulf Coast. An action is planned, starting August 20th, ending September 3rd, in front of the White House in Washington, D.C. Josh Fox, director of the documentary, "Gasland," is asking people to come to Washington to join the effort. This will be a very civil civil disobedience action. Many arrests are expected. Training will be given to each day's group of protestors.

Stop the Megaloads Now: Alberta Tar Sands Need US Help
Monstrous machines over wild and scenic Idaho and Montana highways will destroy the wilderness and roads. Exxon is destroying our natural resources while taking in $40 billion a year in profits. They destroy our public lands which we own and pay taxes on.
