In 1930, my greatgrandparents purchased a beautiful farm in Bradford County, PA, in a little hamlet called French Azilum. In the summer, we spent time there, resting, breathing in the fresh air, enjoying the wild flowers, the bright stars and planets on a clear moonlit night, and swimming in the Susquehanna River. If gas drilling is allowed to continue, Bradford County and all of Pennsylvania will be forever changed, ruined beyond repair.

Fracking: Water Quality
Dr. Sandra Steingraber, author and college professor, speaks about her well water in the Ithaca, NY, area, and asks important questions which have not yet been answered. Shouldn't we hold off on fracking until we know the answers, she asks?
Interesting. You mean hydrofracking produces carcinogens- kinda like Love Canal, Niagara Falls? Well, that's a relief because we all know that in Love Canal they didn't have to close the elementary school due to poisonous substances and we all know that childhood cancers and adult cancers didn't skyrocket in numbers there- NOT! I truly believe that, until the CEOs of the gas companies all have wells in THEIR backyards and near THEIR children's schools, hydrofracking cannot be considered at all safe. Let's face it, people, the gas companies plan to continue to poison every area in which they frack unless, by some miracle, government officials decide to care.
The anti-fracking march yesterday in Philly was a glimmer of hope! We cannot depend on our government officials. It will take them too long. We have to take action now. The arrests at the White House the last two weeks, protesting the tar sands pipeline was also very heartening.
