Karen Korell
January 14, 1944- August 30, 2010

Karen Korell, artist, activist, blogger, dear friend to many, died on Monday, August 30, 2010, at her home in Towanda, PA.  She had a blog called SPLASHDOWN which she dedicated to the detrimental effects of natural gas drilling in Bradford County, PA.  She was passionately dedicated to this issue.  Her presence will be deeply missed.  Karen, your spirit will live in us.  Thank you for all your tireless efforts on behalf of people, animals, and our fragile planet.

At the end of every blog post, Karen would write:

  2. Karen, I admired you for your fortitude and grace but I loved you for being the sweet, kind person you were. You will be missed by many and your work touched many who were not able to meet you personally. Your influence will live on.

  3. Thank so much for posting this PeaceGirl.Karen was one of the first bloggers on this issue. We got all of our information from her at the beginning becasue no one else was aware of this issue.

Her family can be especially proud of the legacy that she has left behind. Her blog is testament to that. She will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences to her family.

  4. Karen-

You were a wonderful person and artist. Most importantly, you made a difference, which is the most any of us can hope to do. You will be missed.

  5. In memory to a friend of the heart...from e.e. cummings

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

karen's heart and her soul have become, for me, a measure of kindness worth the carry....
