Of course, the family corporation should have approved it first and voted on it, but we all know that no other point of view would have been listened to or taken into account except Rick's anyway, so it was a lost cause. If they sign a lease now, that will be the final nail in the coffin of Camp Hutchinson. It was a wonderful Camp for many years and we will always have our memories of singing around the piano with Grandaddy and walking the loop, but let's face it- with the many large trucks zooming by, it won't even be safe for kids to walk down to Frutchie's, let alone around the loop. And the music, once a cherished part of Camp, is pretty much gone now. I will always remember floating the rapids with our little guys and singing Camp songs which reverberated through the hills. Memories cannot be taken away by callous gas companies. I feel most sorry for the people who live in Dimock and other ruined areas, which are chemically polluted now (similar to Love Canal)and basically are unfit for human habitation due to unsafe water. They can try to sue the gas companies, but the gas companies have the high-priced corporate lawyers and infinite small amounts of money to pay out as hush-hush money. To the families, it's their lives, but to the gas company, it's just the price of doing business and we can be certain that the companies will always, eventually, come out on top.I still have hope that Camp will NOT sign a lease.smurfettenoreply@blogger.com
